Initial Consultation:
During the initial consultation we discuss your individual or company services, goals, expectations, and your target market. I may have you fill out a questionnaire which helps me asses your needs and better understand your requirements so I can prepare an outline. If you have not already done so, I will ask that you register your domain name at this point.
Work Flow:
The next step is to establish the site architecture, or work flow, this will help me in visualizing your website. This is essential to the development process. You as the owner will know exactly what areas your website will cover and I as the web developer will know exactly what pages need to be built. Building a website without a clear work flow is like building a house without a blueprint. I need to map out your ideas with my knowledge and suggestions before I start designing. Keeping things organized will help expedite the web design process.
Collecting Site Content:
Now I'm ready to begin collecting your materials for the website: Brochures - business cards - power point presentations - product info - photos - etc..
The more you provide, the better. Artwork, logos, and any other graphics you may already have are necessary at this point as well. If you prefer, I can design the graphics and logos for you if you do not currently have any.
Layout Design:
Next I design a layout based on the content you have provided. I will then post your project on the Drawing Board and email you the location for your review. Once you have approved a layout it's on to the next step.Your feedback is essential in the design process and is welcome at all stages.
The Drawing Board:
At this stage of the development process your work flow, content, and layout come together to form a fully functional prototype of your site. The Drawing Board is where I post the entire web site for you to review. There you can navigate through the site to ensure that the look and feel meets the requirements and expectations set out during the initial consultation. I will modify the site as necessary until you are completely satisfied. Once I receive your final approval I will be ready to start testing your site.
Website Testing:
I will test the entire site in Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Netscape browsers to ensure all components are working correctly.
Going Live:
Finally, now that you have a custom website designed it's time to go live. Depending on our contract I will either submit the files to your web hosting server or you can download them from the download area..
